Mercury, wing-footed messenger.
#2 in the Solar System Series.
Find Mercury (Burrelle's front garden.) Stand with your back to the planet and locate a group of trees in the field across the highway at 320 degrees. Remember those trees.
Take the sidewalk in front of Burrelle's, north down the hill. Cross at the crosswalk at the bottom of the hill just above the entrance to UMPI. (Be careful as Rt. 1 can be very busy at this location.) Once across the road you can follow the Healthy Maine Walks sidewalk until you have the opportunity to bear left off the path, up the hill to the tree grouping. Once there, note the trees are divided by a small field road. Look in the tree grouping on the north side of the field road. Under a rock, sticks and leaves is the box. From here you can see the tiny planet.
Please rehide very well making sure the rock on top marks the hiding spot.
Check out these other letterboxes in the Solar System Series:
"North of Ordinary"; "Venus"; "Earth"; "The Moon"; "Mars II"; "Jupiter"; "Saturn"; "Uranus"; "Neptune"; "Pluto."
