To Get My Goat go to the intersections of Rt.4 and Rt.10 in Farmington. Drive west on Rt.4 for 1.8 miles and turn right onto Brickyard Road. After one mile you'll see parking for the Farmington Valley Heritage Trail on the left. This is only a mile and a half round trip, good for kids, bikes, strollers and old folks.

After parking your car (I don't like this part) cross VERY carefully over Brickyard Road to the trail on the other side. The first thing to watch for is a sign on the left that says 2.0 miles (but you haven't walked that far)After walking under the power lines look for another sign saying 2.4 (and Avon town line sign)and then a 2.5 marker. Soon a chain link fence appears on the left, then it jogs left into the woods only to reappear along the trail. After it jogs left again watch for a small gate in the fence and look on the right side of the trail for two large evergreen trees up a slight slope with a large red and white sign that says No Trespassing, Old Avon School, Police take notice. In front of the left tree is a boulder behind which a goat could hide. A flat rock is on top of the box.

I'm hoping that because this boulder is in front of the sign, that it's not trespassing but please take the box towards the trail to stamp in and thanks for visiting.
