This is the companion box to Rooster Taurus. From the town of Occidental head west on Coleman Valley Rd. Approximately 8.3 miles up this road you will see it turns 90' to head for the ocean. At this turn you will see a large rock outcropping on your left.

If you are coming from the Coast/Ocean and heading east on Coleman Valley Rd, this rock will be 2 miles from Hwy 1 and on your right.

Walk around to the side of the rock that faces the ocean and look for a cleft in the rock that leads up to some natural steps with a clump of fern growing halfway up. Stand just below the ferns and look towards the small coyote brush (Baccharis pilaris). The box is in a nest of 4-5 boulders between you and the coyote shrub.

Please rehide well!

I consider this road one of the most bewautiful drives in Sonoma County. Be forewarned it is a single lane winding road, not advisable for RV's. Also the last few miles near the ocean are open range and you can see cattle, hogs, sheep and deer roaming free. Drive carefully!
