* all of our boxes are Bring Your Own Ink & Pen
NOTE: this box was missing and has been replaced with an all new double-sided hand carved stamp (different design from the original box).

Visit the Connecticut Audubon Society Birdcraft Museum at 314 Unquowa Road in Fairfield. See http://www.ctaudubon.org/visit/birdcraft.htm for hours and information.

Birdcraft was established in 1914 by Mabel Osgood Wright, who was the founder of the Connecticut Audubon Society. The facility includes the oldest songbird sanctuary in the United States, as well as a natural history museum and gift shop. There is a nominal fee for non-Audubon members (adults - $2, children - $1) if the museum is open.

Behind the museum buildings, the trails begin with a Y. Head clockwise to the left passing the Osgood chimney on your left. Continue on the long wooden bridge over the pond, and pause at its end. At 100° to the left, follow a small path up a hill. Enjoy the view from a bench on top of the hill and continue on the path down the other side of the hill. On the 8th step down on the right, there will be a hollowed log pointing down the hill. Inside the higher end of the log, behind some leaves and bark, you will find the Birdcraft Letterbox.

Be very discreet and rehide well (camouflage with bark and leaves to make the hiding spot look natural).

Continue down the hill and turn left onto the main path, heading clockwise around the pond. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the Birdcraft sanctuary and you will be led back to the museum on this path. Make sure to stop into the museum and gift shop if open!

We hope you enjoy the sanctuary and the new stamp! Please email when found to update us on the box's condition.
