Directions to Northwest Park Take i-91 north to exit 38 or i-91 south to exit 38A, either way, take a right at the end of the ramp. Travel north on Rte 75 (Poquonock Ave) for about 1 mile and turn left into Prospect Hill Rd. There is a bus stop "hut" at the intersection. Continue until the traffic circle or round about, and take a right onto Lange Rd, This will take you to the parking area for Northwest Park. Park and enter through the main stone gate, at the Nature Center pick up a trail map.

The America's Pride Letter Box is located in the Hemlock Trail. From the southwest corner of the Picinic Pavilion take a compass reading of 275 degrees and follow that unmarked trail. Soon you will see the Bog Trail on the left, take it. Follow the rope guidelines, stopping periodically to learn about the nature along the trail. The Hemlock trail will turn to the left, now follow the white blazes of the Hemlock Trail.

[Rock Island] The location of this box was plowed over. The box was crushed into pieces but I found the stamp. I placed the stamp in a new container and rehid it. Don't cross the river of rocks. Turn left and walk 12 steps. Look left for a hollow tree with rocks in it's base. Under rocks you will find the stamp. There is no log book.

The Hemlock trail is a loop and contains other LBs, see Northwest Park for clues, or you can return the way you came in.

This LB was replanted and adopted by Voyageur as part of the "A Somewhat Secret Gathering" Nov 21, 2004, orignally planted by the Northwest Park Summer Camp of 2004

Hike length: 1 mile
