07/21/09 New journal, finally replacing full, wet, old one!

OK, this is this poor dog's third new home. If you have stamped in while it was in it's hiding spots in Pacific Grove, it is the same stamp, but has moved to Carmel. 3/2/05

Difficulty: Easy. Dogs on leash.

Clues: Start by driving south from Carmel on Hwy. 1. A little less than a mile south of Rio Road & Hwy. 1 is Ribera Road and the Carmel Meadows subdivision. Turn right on Ribera Road (you'll see a large Carmel Meadows sign on the corner) and drive down maybe 1/2 mile. Look for the second right turn off Ribera and go down Calle De Cruz to the end. Park here, but don't block any driveways. There is a beach access gate down at the bottom of this short street. Walk through the gate that says "Do not block gate"
Walk down the trail and look for the Portola-Crespi Expedition Rock on the right at the first trail intersection. Look up and find your way to the top. Stand in front of the cross and take the trail at 340*. Follow trail around and down until you come to a bench. Look under the northernmost end of bench. Make sure you have come down the correct trail! Lots of people take the wrong trail and end up at the 'other' bench. The trail you want will go downhill with the river lagoon on your right.

Have fun and try to rehide VERY well. This is a popular area and it may be hard to hide the box as the spring weeds die out. Let me know how this dog is doing! Be careful not to tramp down any native plants! If you have a large family, please try to fit a few stamps per page since I don't live near and can't replace the journal often. Thank you!!
