The Stow House is a historic house built in 1872. Tours are Saturday and Sunday at 2pm and 3pm. The grounds are open during daylight hours 7 days per week.

Directions to Stow House.

Take Hwy 101 to Los Carneros exit. After exiting, turn toward the mountains. Drive 1/4 mile. Turn right into the drive at the Stow house sign. The yellow train depot will be on your right and the Firehouse #14 will be on your left. Park in the shared parking lot.

It will take approximately one half hour to find the first 2 boxes and another 10 minutes to find the new third box.

1. CONFIRMED MISSING 6-27-11. A replacement box is in the works. The STOW HOUSE LETTERBOX. From the parking lot, follow the rail fence toward the big white house (Stow House). Before the white house, take the drive to the right, and follow it around to the front of Stow House. Stop in front of the tall tree with white bark to the left of the path. Looking to the left, the lawn stretches out due N. Step off the paved drive and follow the lawn past the lone tree, sitting in the middle of the lawn. Follow the lawn as it curves to the right. Pass the large Palm tree with the wide trunk into the wooded area. You will see a large fallen tree in front of you. The box is planted in the root. Please reseal all bags and close the box tightly before replacing. Please cover the box completely.

2. DENISE'S 50th BIRTHDAY BOX (Replacement notepad, 9-4-06)

After finding the Stow House box, walk down to the paved road behind you. Turn right, in a SE direction and follow the paved road. Pass the 'Park Hours' sign on your left. Continue following the paved road until you see the City of Goleta sign on the right. Take 22 steps and follow the dirt path to your right. You will shortly come to a crossroads of paths with a large pine tree in front of you, to the left. Take the path to the right heading NW, You will pass 3 dead standing trees on your left. Continue down the path past a single dead standing tree on the left. Immediately after, are 2 living pine trees. Leave the path, walking to your left, between the two pine trees. Below you will be a black metal drainage pipe. Step down to the black drainage pipe. The box is hidden under two rocks to your left. Please seal all bags and secure the box lid tightly before replacing the box. Please cover box completely.

3. RAILROAD DEPOT BOX, added Thanksgiving Day, 2008.

Return to the large, white historic Stow House. Walk around to the back of the Stow House and you will find yourself in front of the caretaker's cottage.

Continue down the drive. In front of you is the yellow Railroad Depot. To your right is a small grove of eucalpytus trees.

Enter the tree grove and look for a 4-trunk tree. You will find the box at the base of the tree.

Please close the box tightly and cover completely when you are finished.

Please email deerkat@nym.hush.com if the box is missing.
