NOTICE! THIS BOX HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY REMOVED DUE TO MAINTENANCE AT THE PARK. I WILL EITHER FIND A NEW SPOT OR REMOVE THIS MESSAGE WHEN IT HAS BEEN REPLANTED.

Kid, Pet & Bike friendly. The path is also wheelchair friendly, although the actual hiding spot isn’t. PLEASE NOTE: This box is on a pretty busy path with lots of curious people! Please take care in making sure the hiding place remains a secret!! Many thanks.

Box #1 of the Peace in Our World Series

Visit the park that shares its name with a Naval hospital. Drive in, take the first right, and turn right again, curving left around the Senior Center. Park at the back of the parking lot, by an entrance to the paved trail.

Enter the trail between the two stone pedestals, and follow it down to the right. You should see the 1.5 mile marker right away.

Follow the trail past the staircase, around the bend to the left. At the next bend in the trial, you should see a faint, natural trail leading to the left. Don’t follow it; continue on the paved trail. Approximately 65 paces (1 step each) later, there will be a metal stake – like a surveyor’s pin – buried just to the left of the trail. Immediately past this stake are two medium-girth trees.

Face these trees, and take a few steps forward. Behind the right-hand tree, kept warm by some kindling, you will find peace. Please repack carefully and seal the box tightly. As always, rehide better than found. All the usual disclaimers apply – be careful of poison ivy and watch out when reaching into what might be someone else’s home!
