WHOO WHOO THE OWL PLEASE NOTE __ REPORTED MISSING BY TWO PEOPLE -April 2011 -- So Sorry .
You very well may see an owl here.
The Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden Ct.
In season, there is a fee to enter and park.
Look at the Map Board and check out this short loop.
It is well suited to children and has only a short fun climb on the trail
Begin on the Tower Trail and travel only a short way along to find the newly blazed Nature Trail . Take the Nature trail to the right at the bend in the Tower Trail. It skirts along the side of the Giant and soon meets at a junction with the Yellow and Red Octagon Trails. Turn left onto the Red Octagon trail and you will now begins a short climb through the woods. Just as you reach the top and it begins to level off , look to your right and see a large three sister Oak being hugged by a Beech Tree , all close to the trail. Walk around the group and notice that one sister has been burned by fire. At her eastern feet is a log and THE OWL has found a nesting spot under some stones.
Please cover well and look to make sure no plastic is showing. Thank you for hunting in this friendly fashion.
