This is a somewhat mystery .
Feel the warmth of Butterfly Kisses and the call of many Cat Birds as they flit about in Situations. The meadows in this preserve are beautiful in all seasons Enjoy

Meadow flowers are the jewels of summer as the meadows seem to change
colors at each
visit.
Planted for your adventure are five letterboxes of common meadow flowers
.Some brazen
in their growth as they fill the meadows with blooms. Butterflies and
bees are intoxicated
by the nectar
To find these flowers you must walk to both Walden and South Meadows.
As you enter Walden Meadow on a green trail marker, turn to the stone
wall along the
eastern side of the meadow. From the corner , walk to a tall Cedar tree, almost half way down the wall , the tree in 2009 is dead ~~ so look in the stone wall for the
large flat
faced rock with barbed wire above the rock. To the north side of the
large rock under a
flat stone is the RED CLOVER
Now , back at the entrance to the meadow, follow along the tree line
going in a westerly
direction. Meadow on your right and trees on your left. Stop when you
see a very large
rock in the woods. Under a flat rock among the rose bushes, you will
find the PRARIE
ROSE Be careful , the rose bush is protecting the letterbox. Ouch.

As you enter the South Meadow on the Red trail, notice the yellow trail
is on the left.
Stay on red and the hill on your left hides a treasure. Walking along at
meadows edge,
start up hill through an open Cedar Grove , some large, some small, and
find a clump of
black birch trees just at edge of large patch of moss. Under stones is
The BLACK EYED
SUSAN
Back on the trail, notice the red trail splits and you must take the
first right now walking
westerly along with meadow on right and small trees on left. When the
red trail comes to a break in the trees and a trail passes
through, stop and turn left onto that trail and look right to a small bushy tree about nine steps off trail . There behind the bushy tree is an old leather bucket . Bull thistle is hiding inside.
Go back to the meadow and continue along now with no markers, At the
far S.W corner,
turn right along a fence . Don’t put your stamp away, as the CHICORY is just a hop skip and a jump
along the
way. At the northern corner go to the large multi trunk tree and at its
base under a trap
door is what will complete the Meadow Flowers. The river is close and
sometimes very
nice to sit and have a snack.
To complete the loop, just continue along the meadow edge soon to meet
the red trail where you entered the meadow , and now turn left on the way back to the parking lot .
Have a Butterfly Day
