KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: This box (and all our other Flamingo boxes) are planted in Richardson city parks with pools. All have playgrounds, picnic areas and are open to pets on leashes. There is no fee to enter the parks; nominal fee ($1.50) for city pools during the summer months.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: When a cloud of pink flamingos migrate, they do so mainly under cover of night with a clear sky and favorable tailwinds. They can travel approximately 373 miles in one night at about 31-37 mph. On a recent night, a flock was flying over Richardson and became confused by the high number of sparkling turquoise pools below. Convinced they had found their tropical home, they swooped in and set up nestkeeping. (The great shopping, excellent school system and abundance of high tech jobs convinced them to stay). Although reclusive, occasionally they can be spotted by diligent birdwatchers still hiding around these pools in the pink of health.

CLUES: Enter Cottonwood Park from Beltline Road. Park anywhere, but begin your search standing outside the fence on the West side of the pool enclosure, facing the stream. Walk along the sidewalk towards the bridge. On your right will be a semi-circle of mortared fieldstone. Walk about another 20 steps towards the bridge. On your left outside the bridge railings is a bush. At the first cement support for the bridge, look under the bridge. Please replace by pushing under the bridge as far as you can reach, and please make sure it is not visible from any angles!
