Box alive as of 6/25/05
3/20/05

This is a family oriented short walk, maybe 10 minutes to box. Alot of dog owners walk around here with dogs unleashed. ( now that I put the clues to the second box in here you can add 2 to 3 minutes).

Directions:

From any direction get off I-95 exit 16.
From the north, take Route 7 connector then take I95 east to exit 16.

From exit 16:

Go south on East Avenue.

Pass St. Thomas on left, go under train bridge, straight through light, follow cemetery on left, take left (follows cemetery around), take right onto Gregory Blvd. Straight through light. Come to rotary with statue, take left and then an almost immediate right onto Calf Pasture Beach Road. Pass Marvin School on left. Taylor Farm starts on your left. Take first left on Canfield(if you don’t you go into Calf Pasture Beach itself). Pass pond, on left is a small parking lot of eight to ten cars. You have arrived. If there is no parking, you could get back on the road you came in on. Instead of taking a right to go back, go straight and park at the miniature golf.

From parking lot:

Look North. There is a small strand of trees to the left. In front of you is a field. Beyond is a much larger strand of trees. In the middle is a large dead tree with a number of its branches broken off. Walk north staying right or east of the tree and all the bushes surrounding it. The bushes on that side will funnel you to the one proper trail.

From the beginning of the trail take 33 steps. You will see two trails take the left one up the hill. After another 32 steps is a large knar led tree, it is presently winter so the view of the Long Island Sound is pretty good up here. Now go another 25 steps that will get you to two large trees on the left. Go north 30 steps to an intersection of trails. Take a right, you need to go about 45 steps at 70 degrees. This will get you to a home made tree fort. Go due North 30 steps. On your left will be a old two sister tree with its roots spread out over the trail. Take a bearing of 80 degrees off the trail. Ramble 23 steps to a clump of three trees (at about 12 steps is a stump and its rotted trunk). On the east side of the middle tree is the Sailing Race letterbox, in between the tree and a larger rock. Please hide carefully!

There is another box in these small woods.

Update:12/26/04
After you have logged in, make your way back to the trail. Then take a left toward the tree fort, passing it on the way back to the multilegged intersection. Take a reading of 300 degrees (north west). Go 15 steps, there is a trail on right, but keep going straight. At another 12 steps there are two trees that cross the trail, look right at about 230 degrees under another felled tree. You will find the second stamp of "Go Fly a Kite". Please be careful when rehiding, this is only a few feet from the trail.

Both stamps are hand carved.

Any thoughts, updates please E-mail me at JPS225@yahoo.com, thanks.
