I've had a report that someone that this box is gone. Just want any searchers to be aware of the situation!

What better place for a cowboy to hide out than a well-defended, big ol’ gun emplacement?!

The gun emplacements at Godley Head, Christchurch, New Zealand, were
constructed in 1939-1946 as part of New Zealand’s coastal defence
strategy. The facilities at Godley Head included assorted batteries, observation rooms, tunnels, and gun emplacements, the remains of which are still there and open to the public to explore.

You can find out more about Godley Head here:

To find Roy Rogers, who is hiding out near one of the buildings at the emplacements, you will need to take the Port Hills Rd to Godley Head.
Follow the road right to the end – it will take maybe about 5 mins to get there after you’ve gone past Taylors Mistake.

Be careful on this road – it is narrow, with a lot of blind corners and there is often a lot of traffic & cyclists. Occasionally you’ll come across wandering stock as well. Be ready to pull to one side to let traffic pass coming the other way.

At the end of the road, park in the car park to the right. Opposite the toilets (across the car park) is a path that leads towards a wire fence.
Take this path & turn left towards the gun emplacements.

Keep following this path. It’s quite easy to negotiate but be careful of rabbit holes & half-buried rocks. You’ll go through 2 stiles and a gate.

After going through the gate, keep going until you get to an
observation post on the right (it’s a wee pole with an image of someone with their hand to their eyes). To the left is a path leading to a blue building surrounded by a hedge.

Go up this path. Roy is hiding at the back of this complex – over the gate at the far corner of the hedge & to the left, under some good cowboy-hiding cover. Be careful – you will be in full view of the path below & don’t want to arouse suspicion!

When you’ve finished visiting Roy, go back down to the path (the way
you came, so as not to create a direct path to Roy’s hiding place) & carry on down to the emplacements. Bring a torch with you if you want to explore the underground parts of the emplacements!
