These letterboxes are located in Little Bennett Regional Park near Hyattstown.

Take I-270 to exit 18. Take Clarksburg Road (Route 121) over the traffic light at 355 approximately 2 miles. Shortly after the Froggy Hollow Schoolhouse trail crosses 121, turn right onto “Kingsley Road” – really just gravel parking lot where several walking/riding trails come together.

A beautiful warm day, what a way to spend the first day of a happy and healthy new year for everyone! Happy 2005!!!!

The Equation:

From the parking area, find Kingsley Trail east as it follows Little Bennett Creek. You will follow this gravel road until you reach "Hard Cider Trail". From the sign you will need to calculate your footfalls. Using the first letter in the name of this trail, multiply by 7 to calculate the number of steps to take up the hill. When you reach the spot, you will know you were correct if you see a large knotted tree with its branches reaching up to the sky. From this tree you will need to perform the following calculation: using the trail name, add the number for each alphabet letter together(H+A+R+D + C+I+D+E+R + T+R+A+I+L) - (A+I+T+A+I)= #steps. This mathematical operation should take you on a walk upward to a 3 in 1 tree on the left side of the trail. From this tree look into the woods for an old fallen pine tree. At the "spiked" rooted end you will find the answer to these equations.

Sum it up!

Return to Kingsley trail and continue left toward the old Kingsley Schoolhouse. As you walk down the trail look for a large, tall mass of rock that meets the trail edge on your left. From this mass of rock, walk 32 paces and look for a 2 in 1 tree on the other side of the creek. In the creek, against the bank close to you will be a large flat rock. With the tree and the rock lined up behind you, look to the hill and up. Looking directly in front of you you will see a tree at the base of the hill. At the bottom of the tree you will notice it's strange root that resembles a compas. The compas arrow is pointing in the direction of approximately 1:00. In this direction, up, up, up the hill, you will spy a large straight and tall 2 in 1 tree. Go UP! to this tree. When you catch your breath, look to your right and walk 16 paces to a 4 in 1 tree. Inside the tree where they all meet you will find what seek.

If you would like to continue the hunt, print the clues for School Daze. These boxes are located near the old Kingsley schoolhouse.
