6/05/06 CONFIRMED MISSING. But I have some NEWS! The Forgotten Park is going to be revitalized!!!! YAY! I hope to get this one replaced after the clean up occurs. Stay tuned!

The Works Progress Administration (later Works Projects Administration, abbreviated WPA), was created in the 1930's during the Great Depression. It was a "make work" program that provided jobs and income to the unemployed. WPA projects primarily employed blue-collar workers in construction projects across the nation, but also employed white-collar workers and artists on smaller-scale projects.

Marshall County is the home of several WPA projects, including Magnetic Park in Plymouth (letterbox coming soon!), and the Argos Isaak Walton League Building. Another nearly forgotten park exists in the southeastern corner of the county. This park was built in 1934 and features a stairway leading down to the river bed and large grotto-style openings into the river bank where natural flowing springs were once located. It once was a popular place to swim, fish, and enjoy the river.

Now the "Forgotten Park" is mostly abandoned and is often riddled with garbage. If you decide to search for this box, you must do this: You must bring two trash bags with you and fill them up. If we work together, we can keep the Forgotten Park clean and others will be able to enjoy its beauty.

Clues:
You must first find "The Angry Woodchuck of the Tippecanoe" and the "Reading, Riting, Rithmatic" Letterboxes. After finding the 3R box, get into the car. You will see a county road across the street from you. This road is named after a tree with paper-like bark. Take this road south for approximately 1-2 miles. You will come to the river, where the road snakes around it. Look for the second turnout on the right. It is marked by a lone conifer. Park here. You will see the stone stairway to the right of the conifer. Explore the area, pick up some trash, and on the way back to the car ask that lonely conifer what he is hiding.

Please re-hide well.
