Box alive and well as of June 15, 2008

Location: Pine Valley Ranch Park…(A dog-friendly and FREE park!) near Pine, Colorado, Jefferson County

Planted: September 12, 2004 (by Team Min Dawg)

Notes: Take a stamp pad with you. If you are boxing with your dog, please be a responsible human and clean up after your dog and keep them on a leash.

Directions: Take the U.S. Highway 285 to Pine Junction. Turn southeast onto Pine Valley Road (County Road 126) and continue about 5.8 miles toward the town of Pine. Look for and follow the signs to Pine Valley Ranch Park.

Clues: From the restrooms at the lowest parking lot, walk down the paved path and over the bridge. When you arrive at a sign that reads, “Pine Lake Loop” you will see some stairs. Do not take the stairs. Take the Pine Lake Loop trail on the south side of the lake until you get to the Buck Gulch Trail. Follow the Buck Gulch Trail uphill until you reach the junction with the Strawberry Jack Trail #710. Take the Strawberry Jack Trail across the stream and up the gulch. As you ascend, notice the beauty of the burned forest! It has a unique beauty of its own. It is sad to see the dead trees but at least the forest is recovering a bit...new life! Eventually you will arrive at a sign that reads, "Park View". From this sign, ascend the rise in front of you. At the top of the rise, you should see a "V" set of ponderosa pine trees on your left. From this "V" shoot a bearing of 320 degrees. About 60ft from the trail, there is a big set of relatively flat rocks to sit on and eat your lunch or take a break. Look on the northwest side of these rocks for the box. It is in a hole covered by one rock only. Please replace it as you found it. Have fun!

Box till you drop!
