I've had a report as of 9/1/08 that all of these are missing.

Head to Point Pinole in Richmond. It’s on the Great Highway.

Point Pinole is a dynamite place to visit (pun intended.) There’s great trails and history. You can bring your bike, your dog, your horse and your kids. There are playgrounds, a fishing pier, picnic areas and beautiful scenery. There’s even a shuttle from the parking lot to the fishing pier if you’re not there for the exercise. There are also fees at certain times but it’s worth it. Check out the details at: http://www.ebparks.org/parks/ptpinole.htm Pick up a map on the web site or at the entry kiosk. It might some in handy. However, while it’s got all the trails on it, it doesn’t have all the names.

Now for the clues.
This is about a 3 mile loop, easy walking.
Box #1 Where the Dead Leaf Fell
From the parking lot head into the park. Follow the paved road over the railroad tracks and past the play area. At the intersection, bear right on the gravel path (Cook’s Point Trail.) At the right intersection with the Giant Station Trail, stop at the picnic table. The first box is on the backside of the big eucalyptus on the corner.

Box #2 Happy Birthday to Me
Head back the way you came just a bit and take the other branch of the Giant Station Trail. (It will now be on your right.) When it joins the main road, head for the pier. At the end of the picnic area just before the pier, look for tree #100 with the 5 trunks. The present is in the cleft. Hide it carefully but not so that it’s never seen again.
I found this stamp and put the box together on my birthday. Given the soggy weather, it took me a little longer to plant it.

Box #3 The Western Bay
Looking back toward the way you came, take the western path just before the shuttle shelter. At the top of the hill, go left. At the 4th Steep Cliff warning, there’s a nice spot to admire the view of the western bay and Marin beyond. Now get back on the trail. At the last big old eucalyptus tree on the left, just before the next bench, you’ll find your prize.
“Now the Sun was dropt into Western Bay” John Milton, Lycidas

That’s it. Enjoy your trip back to the parking lot.

Drop me a message and let me know how these boxes are doing. The park has employed a herd of goats to keep the brush down. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they don't find the boxes.

Status as of 8/20/05:
