Queen B's Birthday Boxes

Queen B is a wonderful friend and we thoroughly enjoy boxing with her. These boxes were made to give her a bit of the special feeling that she gives to others. They are about things that are important/special to her, but I think most of us will agree that they are wonderful things. There are three boxes to this series and only one log book. It is in the final box. Also, there are no ink pads. We strongly suggest bringing markers. You'll be happy that you did!

This is somewhat of a mystery. The park that the boxes are located in only has parking for its residents-fines are levied and cars are towed if you disobey. However, for a little more of a walk you can park at one of the Airline Trail's many openings onto public roads. There is parking here for 2-3 cars (it is only about 2 tenths of a mile away by road). After parking you go out to the road, turn right and very quickly you will find the entrance to this town park on the left. Ahh, but you have to figure out which one.The choice is entirely yours about where to park. This is a bit of a GRAY area, so....

This park is located in Tolland County and has a beautiful view of a waterFALLS. There is also a picnic area here. Once you have figured out where to start proceed with the clues below.

From the parking area (of this park, not the Airline Trail) go past the black metal gate on the right. Head towards the water and you will have a stone wall on your right. Soon the stone wall will stop. At this point, turn right and then head up the other side of the stone wall. Walk uphill 15 steps. Stop here and look in the wall for box #1-Cats. Rehide well, from both sides.

Go back to the end of the wall and continue walking to the water. It is very pretty here. When you are done enjoying the scenery, head back up the hill to "SOUTH". You'll know it when you see it. From "SOUTH" take a reading of 70° and you should be looking at a large stump. Go to it. From the stump take another reading of 70° and spy two (2) trees close together in front of, and touching, some stone work. Go there. To the left, of the most left of the two trees, you will notice another tree with a hollow at its base. Nope, not there, but on the back side of that same tree is where you want to look. Behind a couple of rocks and in a hollow you will find box #2 Family. Rehide well, PLEASE, as this is a very popular place in nice weather.

Go to the top of the hill that is in front of you. There are stairs a little way to the left. From here, look towards the sound of the water (northeasterly?) and you will see through the trees, a bridge. Get to this bridge by following a very clear path. Do Not cross the bridge. Once you reach it, stand next to the tallest rock that is in front of the bridge. Take a reading of 290° and you will see a Hemlock(?). Walk 32 steps to this tree. Here you will see a stone wall running up the hill. Walk uphill on the North side of this wall 18 steps. Then you are at an opening. On the right-hand side of this opening, under quite a few rocks, is box #3 Pansies. This is the final box of the series and the one that contains the log book.

We hope you have enjoyed your hike and the hunt. We also hope to do many more boxes with Queen B.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY QUEEN B!!!
