This series of letterboxes was located in eastern Jackson County, along the Little Blue Trace. This is a dog- and stroller-friendly trail that can be walked, biked (11 miles one-way), or driven between trailheads. I've seen many kinds of birds along this trail, including bluebirds. In the warmer months, there is usually a lot of poison ivy along the trail, so be careful. Hope you enjoy the box and the trail. please bring your own ink stamps. This can bea very busy trail, so please be aware. Having a spotter (or two) would be very helpful, especially with Joey. For more information about the trail and a downloadable map, go to http://www.co.jackson.mo.us/rec_tr_lb.shtml. One pace=one footfall.

Hello Kitty #1--Hello!!

Take I-70 east to 291 north. Then take 24 east. Go left on Blue Mills Road, and follow it to the Little Blue River Nature Preserve-Blue Mills Shelter. Before you hit the trail, follow the sidewalk to the shelter. There are 16 paces (my steps) across the concrete slab that the shelter is sitting upon. This should help you guage your paces to mine. From the parking lot, go to the SE corner and follow the trail south. From the red pole at the start of the trail, go 280 paces. This should bring you to the far corner of a triangle-shaped clearing. To your right is a 5-limbed tree, with the 2 closest trunks in a "lovers' embrace". In the middle of these trunks is what you seek, hidden by 2 logs, one split and one intact.

As I've had to replace a couple of the boxes already, I'm not planning on doing them again. I apologize for this, but I only have so much pink stuff to carve with!
I would love to know the status of any of the remaining letterboxes, so drop me an e-mail at docjball1969@aol.com. If you want to do an exchange, e-mail me a few days prior to let me know. Enjoy!!
