Tinker’s Creek Letter Box
Placed in honor of the new
Chapel at Tinker’s Creek

Directions: From Cleveland, I – 480 East towards Streetsboro. Prior
to Streetsboro get off on Frost Rd. exit. Go East on Frost Rd. Turn
immediately to the Left on Hudson-Aurora Rd. Turn Right at first
intersection, (this is also called the Hudson-Aurora Rd.), and go
approx. .8 mile. Tinker’s Creek State Park is on the Left.

The actual Letter Box Hike is approximately 1 mile, non-strenuous. You
will need a compass and mosquito spray and a women’s gait stride.

Park your car, upon entering Tinker’s Creek. Start your hike at the
USS Explorer’s. From that point go directly towards the lake, turn
right and take the Lake View path going around the lake.

Walk till you get to the western side of the lake. Just past the
12’-14’ high undergrowth and wooded border around the path, there is a
grassy field going down a slope. There is a newly worn path through
the grass down this slope. (When we were here there was a picnic table
on the left of the path). Take this grassy path, to the cleared area.
Walk through the cleared area and head towards the farthest Northwest
corner. There you will find an opening in the woods.

Go through the opening and take the boardwalk for a while. Here you
will need the mosquito spray, as in the spring and summer they are
plentiful. The snakes, I am told are harmless. Watch for occasional
poison ivy, you should not have to walk through any. The frogs are
plenty and happy. The boardwalk is uneven and unbalanced in spots –
watch your steps.

Turn left at the first intersection, and take the boardwalk till it
ends. Be watching immediately in the woods to your left for the large
hanging vine making a circle knot. At that point watch for the
upright, dead, twisted, bark-less tree. Turn left in the woods, prior
to the dead tree. Go approximately 22 female strides to a log lying
parallel to the path. There you will find the letterbox.

Thank you for investing your time and energy to find this box. We hope
you have enjoyed yourself. Feel free to use our stamp for your
notepad, and please leave your stamp/signature in our notepad. We
appreciate any positive comments.
