Follow 322 E out of Franklin. As you leave Franklin you will cross the Allegeheny River. Just after the bridge on your right is the parking area for the Justus Trail. This is a paved bike/walking trail and totally flat. Start on the trail. Pass under the bridge and walk past the Country Peddler (or stop in and rent a bike). Pass the Justus sign and yellow gate. Continue around the bend. Follow the trail for a while until the cliff face meets the trail. There will be an island in the river on your left. There will also be a picnic table on the left.
If you stand at the picnic table and look toward the river you will see a tree with many trunks. The box is hidden at the base of the tree on the river side.
The box is about 3/4 of a mile down the trail total. It is a very easy walk and extremely child friendly. It was placed on a gorgeous day in February by a whole group of us, four members of which were four and under. Enjoy!
Note: This box had the contents stolen shortly after placement. They were replaced in May and rechecked in November of 2005.
Checked again and moved to new location on November 27, 2006. The old location is now posted with no trespassing signs.
Box was vandalized but repaired by a fellow letterboxer in summer 2007. Thanks.
