(one pace = two steps. Two paces equals the width of a parking space)

When Patti and I were dating, we like to find out of the way public places for a picnic. We often decided on places that were along the Scioto River.

This was one of our favorites. Griggs Reservoir has many accesses to the Scioto River. So to find this one you should start at the main entrance. (Most people come here to feed the ducks in the spring and summer). Exit the main enterance and head North on Riverside Drive for 9/10ths of a mile. Take a left turn into this small portion of Griggs Reservoir. You should see a stone picnic structure and a path leading to it with posts on both sides of the path.

(These directions have changed... They removed the rock...
"On the North end of the parking lot is a large rock underneath a tree. Stand on the south side of this rock and take a bearing of 250 degrees for 26 paces..." Who would have thought that they would remove a rock this big.
Anyway here's the new directions...)

There is a long path that is lined by posts, which leads to the shelterhouse. Stand at the first post on the left. and take a bearing of 265 degrees. Pace 21 times and this will bring you to the edge of the bushes. Keeping the same bearing look into the bushes and you will see a well. Standing on this well, take a bearing of 290 degress and walk 10 paces. You will see 1/2 of a fallen tree trunk. At the downhill side of the trunk under a pile of stones you will hear "Thumpa-Thumpa"

Please hide this carefully. There is a little bit of traffic in these woods.

(Please forgive the condition of the park... It was in much better shape 10 years ago.)
