"If you plant it..." Letterbox
"The one constant through all the years has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past. It reminds us of all that once was good, and what could be again." ~ James Earl Jones in Field of Dreams (1989)
G.Y.B.A.
The Georgetown Youth Baseball Association continues its pursuit of excellence towards a successful, organized baseball program in which the youth of the community can learn and enjoy the game of baseball as well as the principles of good sportsmanship and team play. They provide a series of well-maintained fields and a concessions stand located in beautiful San Gabriel Park in Georgetown, Texas.

GYBA follows the PONY rules for youth baseball play. PONY is an acronym for Protect Our Nation's Youth. The goal of the PONY program is to provide experiences in youth baseball (and softball) that will help young people grow into healthier and happier adults. Under the PONY system, there are no minor leagues and players of all skill levels play together on age-appropriate teams. Good sportsmanship and team building are emphasized over team record.

My family has spent several seasons in this wholesome ballpark enjoying both San Gabriel Park and the baseball! We think if you can't be outdoors letterboxing... you should be outdoors enjoying a good game of baseball!

San Gabriel Park
Directions:
The GYBA fields are located in San Gabriel Park in beautiful, historic Georgetown, Texas. From IH 35, take the Andice/Williams exit, 261A. If coming from the south, turn right at the light onto Williams Drive. If coming from the north, turn left at the light onto Williams Drive. Turn left at the light onto Austin Avenue. Turn right onto Stadium Drive (this street runs beside the high school football stadium and leads directly into the park). At the stop sign, turn left onto Morrow Street. The GYBA complex is on the left past the rodeo arena and white show barn.
Clues:
Park at the SW corner of the baseball complex alongside the chain-link fence. From utility pole #0984, travel at a bearing of 145* across the road towards a covered picnic area. From the far side of the picnic area, cross the road behind picnic area and continue S/SE. Continue past a grapevine-covered picnic table until you reach a gravel hiking path alongside the San Gabriel River. Turn right and head westerly on path. Stay on path until you reach a row of medium-sized boulders just north of the path. There is a large oak tree between the path and the first of the boulders. Another marker to let you know you are in the right place is a waist-high wooden pole. The letterbox is located under the SE corner of the 3rd boulder behind some smaller rocks and leaves.

Please! Be very discreet when uncovering and stamping into this letterbox. This park is very popular and there is usually lots of activity. Please re-hide well when done. This letterbox is planted nearby to Ashley's Aspiration, which has, sadly, been reported missing.

This is the BusyBeesFamily's first-ever letterbox! We are very proud of it and hope you enjoy finding it as much as we enjoyed creating it. This box contains our first hand-carved stamp, and we have also included a First Finder's Award for the lucky person who finds it first! Please email me and let me know the status of this box. Thanks & Happy Hunting!
Note: Always take adequate precautions (such as prodding with a stick and/or wearing gloves) before reaching into dark crevasses and holes in the wild. Before you set out, please read the waiver of responsibility and disclaimer.

* Kid & pet friendly!
Meandering right through the very heart of Georgetown is the San Gabriel River. What better place to find one of the most beautiful parks in the State of Texas, I ask?

San Gabriel Park is graced with 200 year-old oak trees that offer the shade of their branches to family picnics, games of touch football and frisbee, high school football games, rodeos, concerts, festivals, canoeing, swimming and fishing. And, of course, baseball! There are lots of ducks and geese that enjoy the cool waters of the river alongside the hiking trail, so bring your bread crumbs, too!
