**this box was found wet and tired, stamp missing. the remnants were mailed to us. We hope to replace it in the future..still a nice place to see if you are in the area**

To H.P. Williams roadside park:

From the east (Miami area) travel west on rt. 41, approximately 16 miles west of Big Cypress National Preserve Visitor Center, H.P. Williams Park will be on your right.

From the west (Naples area) travel east on rt. 41, to the intersection of rt. 29. Continue approximately 6.5 miles past this intersection, passing the tiny Ochopee post office on the right, and Turner River Kayak Launch on your left. H.P. Williams Park will be about ¼ mile ahead on the left.

You are now well into the Everglades, although not within the boundaries of Everglades National Park. This park is on the east branch of the Turner River and is an excellent viewing spot for alligators, as well as a variety of birds in their natural habitat. Alligators like to sun themselves on the riverbanks, attracted to this spot also for the ample supply of fish. In addition, this area is home to the endangered and rarely seen Florida Panther.

Although there is frequently a crowd at the site of this letterbox, it is very possible for you to be discreet in retrieving it, since the eyes of the people are fixed on the gators!

Find the tree root that is grabbing a piece of the wall. Stand facing the tree with one foot in each square. Turn 90 degrees left and count 19 squares to the fork. If you want to stop for lunch, take the right path, if not, continue 10 blocks to the second fork. Look up to see a man and a woman. Turn 90 degrees to your right. Follow the boardwalk viewing gators to your left. Continue until you reach the end of the road. Take three steps to your right. With the wall on your left, take 40 paces forward, then turn 90 degrees right. Walk through the stone columns and through the clean break. Turn right and go low….watch out for gators!
