Patapsco Valley State Park extends along nearly 35 miles of the Patapsco River. This river valley park encompasses more than 14,500 acres and several distinct recreation areas. Hiking trails of all levels, cascading waterfalls, scenic rock outcrops, wildflowers, picnic areas, playgrounds, ball fields and a 300-foot swinging bridge over the Patapsco River appeal to visitors of all ages.

Park at the parking lot near pavilion 245.
Walk down the road that leads away from the parking lot like you are going to the Family Campground. About a quarter mile down this paved road, on the left side, you will see a 3 foot high double tree stump. Next to it is a tipped over tree. Next to this are 2 medium sized trees, one of which has a trunk that is hollowed out. The letterbox is nestled in the hollowed out trunk of this tree.
