Fa La Lalalala Fa La La La Laaaaaa! Welcome to Smurf Village, where everyone is welcome (Except Gargamel and Azrael)and smurf-berries are-a-plenty! This is a very happy little village that resides in a beautiful botanical garden filled with all sorts of wonderful wildflowers! It is a short and easy hike of less than a mile and will certainly be to your liking. Come join us for some smurf-berry muffins, Baker Smurf will be thrilled to whip some up and Handy Smurf can build a table to eat from while Baby smurf giggles and goo-goos in his high chair.
To get to Smurf Village:
1. Driving from Interstate 5, get off on exit 55 Grants Pass. Follow the signs to Rogue Community College (RCC) on Redwood Highway, about 7 or 8 miles.
2. From RCC's main entrance on Redwood highway, continue driving 3.5 Miles and turn RIGHT on Riverbanks Road.
3. Drive 4.3 Miles and turn LEFT on Limpy Creek Road. Another 2 or 3 miles and the road turns to a one-laner and a sign says "End Josephine County" continueup the one-laner about a mile and on your left will be a big sign that says "Limpy creek botanical trail. Park in the lot.
To find Smurf Village:
Get out of your vehicle (DUHH! Smurfs dont drive and neither should you in the botanical garden haha).
Walk to the information sign with the 3 panels explaning the different flowers and trees and such. 10 steps behind and to the right of the sign is a very large tree, I think its a ponderosa pine, it is the largest and widest tree amongst a bunch of skinny trees. Smurf Village is behind this tree buried at its base under dirt, debris, and a couple rocks, be ready to get your hands dirty! :)And please be very careful to re-hide it back in the hole because if too much dirt falls into the hole it wont rest back in it properly. This is a well-known hiking trail and since Smurf Village is so close to the parking lot we dont want any "accidental" finders. Please allow yourself at least an hour to hike this trail, I promise you will be pleasantly suprised when you find this letterbox, it has a great Smurfy-Twist to it :)

Happy Trails!
Erfellie and Sandi

P.S. Tis is our first box placed and made together and we worked very hard on it to make it very creative and fun. For any travelers quickly passing through the area wanting a great letterbox, dont pass this one up just because its not in town and a "drive-by". Also, when hiking the trail, keep in mind this is a National Botanical garden and try to stay on the trail as much as possible as to not disturb the veggies, and if you go off the trail, which you might :) make it look like you were never there :)Oh and beware of poison oak during the summer months and the only time the trail might be closed due to snow would be december and january and its hikeable the rest of the year. If you love wildflowers this is where you want to be!!
