The trailhead is at the junction of CT Rte 168, and Phelps Rd. Parking is available on the east side of Rte 168. The trailhead is marked with a sign for "H. Acorn Wildlife Preserve" Which is owned and maintained by the Suffield Land Conservancy.

Note: I have moved the boxes a bit to protect them better from storms and accidental discovery.

At the gate head in a northeast direction, follow the white blazes for about five minutes, until you come across an old chimney. Standing with your back to the fireplace, ahead to the left is a tree with a split trunk (its roots are growing over and through rocks, which you can't see from this angle) and to the left of that tree is multi-sister tree. Behind the multi-sister tree, between the roots, covered with bark, branches and stones you'll find Box #1. This has the original stamp from this box.

Continue on the trail in a northerly direction. Soon the trail will join the blue (Metacomet) trail. Follow the blue blazes for about 15 minutes. When you come to the cabin, walk over to check out the view. There's a makeshift bench where you can take a break while enjoying the view. To find Box #2, walk back toward the blue trail, but instead of taking the blue trail south to go back the way you came, take the unmarked trail to the left (east) of the blue trail. At 50 steps you'll be at a two sister tree (gray birch?) and you'll see a Suffield Land Conservancy sign on a tree farther along. A bit beyond the two sister tree, off trail and further left (east), you'll see another two sister tree. Check out the split in that tree to find Box #2. This stamp was carved by Leilani's Aunt, who re-created the image of the stamp originally in this box.

You can now go back to the blue trail to return south, or continue on the blue trail north for further hiking adventures!

If you do just this part of the trail and not beyond, my best guess is that this is about 1.5 miles round trip.

Have fun!
