This letterbox was lost in the Flood of 2006.

This letterbox is located at the Southwell Park Riverwalk in N. Chelmsford.

From Rt. 3 take Exit 33 to Rt. 40. Head towards Chelmsford. You'll pass Freeman Lake on your right. When you reach the traffic light, you'll be in Vinal Square. Head diagonally across the road onto Wotton Street, between the Chinese food restaurant and the bowling alley.

Continue straight down Wotton Street, passing over the railroad tracks. Take an immediate right. Around the bend, you'll see a sign for Southwell Park. Turn to the left and park.

Follow the dirt road, with the ball field and playground on your right.

Shortly, you'll see another sign for Southwell Park. Pass this sign, continuing along the dirt road.

Pass the gated community on your left. With the river in front of you, cross over the fence on your right, onto a gravel path.

Follow the Riverwalk, with the river on your left. Up ahead, you'll see a large tree growing out of the riverbank, sloping gently over the path. Next to it, you'll see a broken tree poking out of the ground. It is about a foot tall and my son says it looks like it has a hairy top.

Twenty steps ahead, you'll see 4 rather large trees growing on the riverbank. These trees are sloped towards the river. You'll know that these are the trees you are looking for, if you see a birch growing in the river that looks as if it is going to fall in. Also, there is a broken tree next to them, that appears to have spikes. Three of the trees are growing together and have a little nest in the middle of them. Here you will find your prize, hidden under bark and leaves.

Please be discreet. There is a lot of foot traffic here. Also, make sure you close up the bag properly and rehide well with bark and leaves, so that it can't be seen from the path. Be careful of poison ivy and mosquitoes.

When you are finished, continue along the path to circle back to your car. If the water level is high, you may have to go back the way you came. Sometimes it floods up ahead.

Be sure to add this to your found list and let us know what you think! Enjoy!
