ARCHIVED CLUE - THESE BOXES ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE

These letterboxes are located on The DeDominicis Property located off of Route 10 in Cheshire, CT. From Route 10 (Cheshire, CT), turn onto Old Lane Road. Drive for about a 1/5 mile or until you reach the top of a steep short hill. On your LEFT you will see a telephone pole marked with a red blaze. Pay close attention to the marked trails as there are many unmarked trails that lead off of the main trails. Be sure to wear hiking shoes that repel water as the trails can be VERY mucky in spots and wear bug repellent.

The Eyes Of Canada Letterbox (Right)

From the telephone pole, follow the Red Trail until you reach the first red double blazed tree. From this tree, take a compass reading of 30 degrees. Take 13 paces in this direction until you reach a stone wall with a break in it. Behind one of these stones you will find the “Eyes Of Canada – Right” Letterbox. Stamp in, re-hide carefully and get back on the Red Trail.

The Eyes Of Canada Letterbox (Left)

Proceed along the Red Trail until you reach a rather large “resting rock” on your left side. Have a rest, enjoy the scenery. After you have rested, proceed down the short hill to the intersection. At this intersection take a compass reading of 150 degrees. This will put you directly on the Blue Trail. Proceed straight ahead until you see series of broken stone walls on your left (just before the trail starts uphill. Stop at the 5 sister tree and take a compass reading of 135 degrees. Carefully proceed along this line (135 degrees). Go beyond the stone wall to a cluster of rocks “jutting” out of the ground. In this cluster you will find the “Eyes Of Canada – Left” Letterbox. Stamp in, re-hide carefully and get back on the Blue Trail using a compass reading of 180 degrees. Follow the Blue Trail until it intersects with the Red Trail again.

The Big Black Eye Letterbox

Follow the Red Trail as if you were heading back to your car. After crossing the creek and going past the first letterbox “Eyes Of Canada – Right” (still on the Red Trail) you will start looking for a Yellow/White Trail blaze which will be on your left hand side. Once you see the Yellow/White Trail blaze turn left to enter this trail. At the very next Yellow/White Trail blaze, take a compass reading of 80 degrees. Take 13 paces along this line. At the base of a tree that has a funny looking bottom, you will find the “Big Black Eye” letterbox. Stamp in, re-hide carefully and get back on the Yellow/White Trail, retracing your steps back to the Red Trail. Once you are back to the Red Trail turn left and head towards your car.

I hope that you will enjoy these letterboxes and remember to please take care of your vision.
