***This box has been temporarily removed, someone randomly found it and turned it in to the ranger, they're holding it for me, and it will be replaced soon! Thanks to all who notified me of its absence, and thanks to this site for providing a way for the ranger to contact me! I will delete this part of the posting once the box has been replaced. Thanks!***

This is a good one for an outing with the kids! Be sure to wear your mud stomping shoes! Start by entering Carkeek Park off of 3rd avenue in the Greenwood area of Seattle. If you go north on Third from Holman Road (N 105th) you'll see the brown signs on the left indicating Carkeek Park. You'll wind down the road until you come to the actual enterance marked by a parks and recreation sign. Take the left and follow the road until it splits and you must go uphill on a one-way road. This road will lead you to the main play areas. Park near the playgrounds. You'll see a large play structure and just past that is a large sculpture/slide in the shape of a salmon. If you climb up to the mouth of the salmon, you'll see 3 small chairs maid of logs, go around them and behind them on the slope you'll see a faint, wide, dirt trail covered in tree roots that leads to the left. Follow that until you come to a medium sized fallen tree. At this point, there will be a trail that leads up the hill. Follow that until you come to a "y". At the "Y" take the trail to your right and follow it down to some wooden steps. There will be a small trail that leads to your right, but instead, go down 17 stairs to a small, gravel covered footbridge. Halfway across the bridge, look to your left and you will see a small stream running down the hill over railroad tie steps.(The stream sometimes dries up, but the ties are always visible) Go up the steps , like a salmon upstream. Between the 9th and 10th step, there is a large tree on your left. It is tall and straight and the trunk looks like it's been twisted. If you step out of the stream and go behind the tree, you'll find the box! This box was placed by me and my children. It's our first and we hope that you have as much fun finding it as we did hiding it! Thanks!
