box is has been reported missing!
Starting from Chareston , Or. Follow Cape Arago hwy. to Sunset bay Ocean Rec. Area. Just follow the road, dont worry you wont miss it :o). At the 2ND brown sign on the right hand side of the road that has an arrow that points left and reads
"Shore acres & cape arago" turn right,into parking lot. Pass by both little volleyball courts, and park next to the restrooms. To the right of the restrooms you will find a small wooden bridge, next to the bridge is a wooden post that is marked ' to the shore acres trail."cross over the bridge.
Approx. 35 steps from the bridge you will come to a 3 way . take the middle path straight though the stinky weeds.
(ew! sorry about that) follow path untill fork in path. STOP! standing at the fork, if you look to your right, you should see a large pile of bushes. But look closely. There is a stump in there. the box is in a hole in the bottom of the stump. NOT NESSASARY to leave path to find box. if you leave the path you are looking in the wrong place, and you could get lost in
the stinky weeds and we dont want that!
You will have to get on your hands and knees to reach into the stump. Box is about 1 ft down in hole.
When you find the box take the path to the right towards the water, there you will see a little picnic table to do your stamping at (where of course,the Sunset Bay stamp was born). Hopefully you have enjoyed you little hike, and we encourage you to take the time to enjoy the view of Sunset Bay!
