*NOTE* Please note that this requires a substantial climb (not like scaling a cliff, but vertically speaking it's up about 600 feet so it is not for the very young or very old).

Hi ho! Hi ho!
It's off to mine we go!
You'll find this box among the rocks
For silica bricks, you know!

Over one hundred years ago
Miners climbed a hill that locals know
Is better than stair-master reps
It's called One Thousand Steps

On route 22 you will head West
Past a route with a number of a jet that's the best
It is a jet made by Boeing
3/4 of a mile is all you'll be going

This jet, by the way, weighs 200 tons
It's also the plane known as "Air Force One"
I want to make sure you've made the conclusion
It's not too far from the town of Mt. Union

Park your car by the sign of "Heritage Route"
From here you'll be going sole-ly by boot
The trail starts at the east end of this lot as the berm is narrowing
BE CAREFUL HERE, speeding cars go by and it can be quite harrowing

It's quite obvious you're on your way to the mine
When you see the trail and the rather obvious sign
I must take a few lines to issue a warning
This hike is quite vertical and some would say grueling

The box is near the top of Jacks Mountain
Reaching it is not like sitting by a fountain
Allow 90 minutes to make the ascent
Perhaps 30 more since you'll be close to spent

Coming back down, 30 minutes probably
You'll find yourself on legs quite wobbly
Be certain to take along enough water
And hold the hand of any young son or daughter

Our son, at age 7, was able to do it
But our pace was quite slow, as we saw to it
We stopped and rested on each hundreth step
If you're not in great shape, that would be a safe bet

When you finally reach the very last step
You'll see signs directing...just head to your left
Around the bend you'll ultimately arrive
At a building you've seen during your climb

The reason for this structure, I don't know
Perhaps here the inclined planes would go
I read there were railroads all through these sticks
And inclined planes that at one time numbered six

Around the south side of the building you'll see
One enormous, gargantuan...well, a really big tree
Situate yourself on the south side of its base
Be careful here too, it's not an easy place to pace

Take a step for each of the deadly sins
What direction? Let's see...make it 243
Among the rocks you'll see one that's kind of reddish
Behind this one you'll find the satisfaction for your stamp fetish

You've reached your goal, the hard work is done
I'd recommend you have some fun
Remember those signs at the top of the stairs?
The overlook is worth it...just to see what's out there

No boxes, no stamps just worthwile vistas
Assuming you don't already have blisters!

Be glad, by the way
You're not a miner today
As the climb you just made
Would be your commute each and every day!

We always welcome feedback on condition of box and nature of clues - enjoy your journey!!
