Ash Meadow Signal

Recarved as a snake!...IF I could find the original stamp, I'd put it in too!

This box is in a wetland. It is not a natural wetland, but was created by the housing developments. I'm sure city records show it differently, but when I was growing up the whole development, wetland included, was a field. And, there were cows in it. This area became a wetland when the orchards and fields in the Thurston Area were turned into neigborhoods. Before there were dams on the McKenzie River the whole Thurston Area was part of the McKenzie Floodplain.

Street Directions:

Going West on Main Street, turn right on 69th at the stoplight. Your very next right will be into Ash Meadow. There is no parking lot, but you can park on the street, or on "A" Street which is the next nearby street. There's a big sign that says, "Ash Meadow." It's across from the Bus Stop at the Dari Mart.

Going East on Main Street, turn left on 69th at the stoplight. The rest of the directions are the same.

To the Letterbox!

There is a wetland near this housing development. Next to the sign announcing the wetland, there is a gravel path to walk on, and, you might feel like you're tresspassing, but you're not. It's okay.

Go into the wetland from the 69th street entrance. Don't walk to the North East Corner. Find Signal the Snake near the Doug's 2 Firs overgrown by the grass. Your Signal will be next to the Fir closest to the fence.

If this box needs help (which it might at some point), please let me know at Romgenesis@Netscape.net

Happy Hunting. You might even see some wildlife, i.e. snakes or frogs. I saw a Heron there the other day :)
