Ancient Indian Shell Ring
1. Go through the Sea Pines Gate onto Greenwood Drive.
2. Turn into the Sea Pines Forest Preserve and enter the trail area.
3. Follow the blue arrow trail to the Rice Field Boardwalk and go across.
4. Look for signs to the Vanishing Swamp. Keep a sharp eye out for alligators as you cross the swamp.
5. Follow the signs to Fish Island. Got worms?
6. Cross the island and look for trail signs for the Indian Shell Ring, the site of a four-thousand year old Indian village.
7. Follow the trail to the shell ring and find the marker which says Building the Shell Ring.
8. By now you might need to rest. Relax on the bench behind the marker.
9. Look behind the bench for a fallen tree.
