These boxes were placed for the Gold Rush Romp. Please contact the placer directly and not through any database or list to advise of status updates.
The clues are listed together for simplicity, but can be sought in any order and separately.
Take the J Street exit off I-5 and follow the signs to Old Sacramento.
Rattlesnake Dick Box--missing Sept. 06
You're almost an outlaw yourself, hanging out here with Rattlesnake Dick (this is the name of the box and will not be found anywhere besides therein). You are not authorized, you have no permit, and a one-man posse might ask what you're up to (REALLY! so be extra watchful & discreet). Technically, you're still in fair territory, but the warning signs are all around you both. You're at the end of the road, almost at the end of the alphabet*, and can't see the sky above you. The hue of envy colors Dick's hideout behind the admonitions.
*5/11/05 update: Ok, I'm stumped. I went to re-plant a 19th Century Transportation box, and thought I'd check on Dick. The signs that indicate being almost at the end of the alphabet are gone!! They seemed so permanent. Do they only put them out sometimes? Anyway, if you need a little extra help, you want to be where the BIG coaches tarry. They would make a good target for Dick's thieving ways.

Stagecoach Box **2/07 Carole Kat says it's there--I couldn't find it!**
In Old Sacramento, you can Discover California! Or perhaps you'll have lowered expectations, which can be reached by descending a widening stair. Face Tim & Sam and note how many years they had happiness together. You and they are surrounded by support, but the source you seek is partial and behind you half as many steps as years.

Solve where the box WAS hidden and email that information to me with your address, I'll send you a postcard with the image, and you can count it as a virtual find.
Clues: To discover your goal, solve the following anagram:

Your answer will form three words:

When you stand face to face, look to 45 and walk toward the yellow merging lanes sign. When you can walk no further, reach in and find the box. You may have to peek left a bit. Please make sure the box is thoroughly hidden when you are through!
As of 5/9/05, two of my remaining three Old Sac boxes now have new homes in Placerville. And there's a new box there as well!
