Directions to Chalk Ridge Falls Park. From I-35, take US-190 West. Exit FM 1670 and follow the signs to Stillhouse Hollow Dam. Cross the Dam and you will see signs to Chalk Ridge Falls Park, which will be on your left. Follow the road down until you reach the parking area. Once parked, look for the Nature Trail sign and begin.

Chalk Ridge Falls Hiking Trail is located below the Stillhouse Hollow Lake Dam. This is a free area that is open from 8:00 am - 6:00 PM October 1- March 31 and is open from 8:00 am - 8:00 PM April 1-September 30. This area offers an environmental learning center.
Dogs, glass containers, alcoholic beverages, bicycles or firearms are not allowed in the park. There is approximately 5 miles of hiking trail in this area.

Begin at the Nature Trail sign. Follow the main trail and learn about the "Signs of Wildlife," "Edges," "Animal Tracks," and "Poison Ivy."
After you've read about the "Wetlands," walk down the steps. Cross the bridge and go up the steps.
Begin following the Blue Arrow Trail Markers to the left. Read about "Succession," "Fire," and "Habitat."
When you reach the Chalk Ridge Falls, go down the steps at 330 degrees. Admire the waterfall and then walk along the railing. At the "Water Snakes," start to follow the Red Arrow Trail Markers down to the footbridge. Cross the footbridge and walk to the right, towards the suspension footbridge. Cross this bridge carefully and then go up the hill to the left. Follow the Red Arrow straight as
you go up 7 steps. Continue on and go up 15 steps and continue to follow the Red Arrow straight.
Follow Red Arrow straight.
You will come to three Red Arrows, follow the Trail Marker on the left with two Red Arrows. Follow Red Arrow straight.
Follow Red Arrow straight down 8 steps. Follow Red Arrow straight. You will come to two Red Arrows. Follow the straight Arrow and stay along the riverbank. Go up 4 steps at the next Red Arrow. Follow Red Arrow straight.
Learn about the "Food Chain." Read the "Plant Communities" sign. Turn around and walk 8 paces at 170 degrees. You will come to two trees about 3 feet apart. Behind
them is a large fallen tree. Look within the fallen tree, between the two trees, and you will find the letterbox. Use the provided marker as ink for the stamp. Enjoy, and please hide the letterbox better than you found it.
