The Power Line Letterbox is located at Burr Pond, in Torrington Ct. For directions to the Pond, please refer to the X Marks the Spot box.
Park in the boat launch parking lot. You don't need to pay to park here. The powerlines cross the water at the far end of the pond. This letterbox is located on the south side of the powerlines. Therefore, you can enter the Burr Pond trail from either the north or south side. It is about a 30 minute hike from either direction. Make sure that you don't take either of the 2 trails that branch off of the pond trail.
Once you arrive at the south side of the powerlines, you will see a trail heading up the hill. Follow this trail, which winds through the laurel for a short way, until you are directly under the lines. Ahead in the distance you will see where the trail continues. Head east along a wider access road. There is a large rock on the right. Soon you will come to a wide section of a log that looks like a stump. Next to this are three large rocks: one has another rock on top of it. Behind this is a tree with a hole in it at the bottom. This is where you will find the Power Line Letterbox.
When you're ready to go, you can go back down the hill to the Pond trail, and continue on your way, or head back the way you came. Or, you can follow the access road up to the powerlines, and up to the dirt road. This is a steep climb and left me a bit breathless. Once there, if you head east, you will come back to Burr Pond, by the waterfall. This is roughly a 20 minute hike.
There are other letterboxes around the pond, and it is a nice place to hike that isn't very difficult. Good luck, and have a great time!

I recently hiked around Burr Pond, and found that the trail up through the mountain laurel is REALLY overgrown and may be a deterent to some people. You can get to the Powerline Letterbox by coming down from above. From the boat launch parking lot, enter the trail to the left, and head toward the beach. Continue on the trail until you get to the waterfall. Follow down and cross the wooden bridge. Stay on the wide, rocky road and follow this until you get to the powerlines. Take a right and go down towards the pond. This is very rocky. You will enter the woods, and when you see the old stump, now on your left, follow the original instructions.
