Come discover a hidden treasure in Grant Parish. Find yourself on the stretch of LA Hwy 8 between Bentley and Pollock. About halfway between these two towns you will see the office for the Catahoula Ranger District on the south side of the road. Turn south on this paved road to the office, go past the office and you will see the Catahoula Hummingbird and Butterfly garden. Park in the grass area just past the sign. Take a leisurely walk around the garden and enjoy the labors of volunteers dedicated to this special place. Make your way to the back of the garden and enjoy the gazebo and view of the pond. Walk the trail around the pond and then stop for a last view of the waterfall as you relax on the bench. As you leave the bench with the pond behind you, look to your left and you will see a small garden shed. Stick your head into the shed and on the top right corner you will see the plastic container with the letterbox. Please replace carefully. As you leave the garden, take the opportunity to sign the guestbook located in the box on the back of the entrance sign and let them know what you think.
