12-1-07: Due to the rather exposed location of this box, it has been pulled for the winter. Look for it again in the spring when the foliage and cover return to it's hiding place.
Difficulty: Easy. This box is hidden at Homer Lake. The trail is level and paved except for the last few steps which are not paved but still level. Watch out for poison ivy. I did not see any where the box is hidden but I did pass up several other nearby locations because of poison ivy so it is in the immediate area. This box is part of the Great Lakes Letterbox Exchange and was carved by Keltic Kara of Maine.
Follow the paved path until you find the "lighthouse" that overlooks a "sea" of green. From the stairs, take 15 or 16 paces to the north. Stop and look for a tree on the east side of the trail. Part the bushes in front of the tree to find West Quoddy Light hidden under some leaves and twigs where the branches come off of the trunk. Please be very careful to hide the box well under leaves and twigs when you are done with it as it is very close to the trail.
