**Due to the nature of the area because of Hurricane Rita in 2005, this box has been pulled. I checked the status of the area. A residential fence is currently in disrepair. The tree it was planted in has orange paint on it. I don't know if that means they'll tear the tree down or if that means they're saving it. I don't want to risk the box being found and taken or thrown away. The good news is that yes, it did survive the hurricane - it is nice and dry! First finders (possibly children) left some nickelodeon slime in the box.

So, until I find a safer place, this box is pulled. Thanks for looking! And thanks to those who found it.

TERRIAN:
Flat, easy walk

DIRECTIONS:
Tex Ritter Park, Windmill Museum, and the Acadian House are all located at 1500 Boston Ave, Nederland, TX 77627. From Houston take I-10 East to Beaumont. Exit Hwy 69 to Port Arthur. Exit Hwy 347 to Nederland. Stay straight on this hwy, and its name will change to Twin City Hwy. Keep going until you come to Boston Ave. Turn Right onto Boston and keep going straight. After several blocks you will see the windmill on your right. The windmill might be closed due to renovation, but the Acadian House is open from 1-5PM Thurs-Sun.

"Ritter Park captures the essence of the early history of
Nederland. Located on the grounds are the Wind Molen
(Windmill) and the La Maison Acadienne (French House) museums which celebrate the Dutch and Cajun cultures respectively. A gazebo is located behind the windmill."

CLUES:
Follow the sidewalk to the back of the park, around the gazebo. You should see a small column covered with stones with a plaque on it. Stand directly in front of it to where you can read the plaque and look across from you...you should see a bench. Walk over towards the fence behind the bench. Look for the box at the base of the second tree to your right behind a bed of ferns. It is covered with camo tape.
