Lindbergh

This mini-box has no ink or pen, please bring your own.

Charles A. Lindbergh completed the first solo trans-Atlantic flight (New York - Paris) on May 20-21, 1927.
He lived his later life on the lovely Hana coast of Maui and is buried at the Palapalo Ho’omau Church in Kipahulu.

From Hana town travel south on route 31 approximately 8 miles. Just 0.1 mile past Mile Marker #41 there will be a small road on your left with a sign for the Maui Stables. Turn here and follow the road to the left. Park at the edge of the paved loop in front of the Palapalo Ho’omau Church. After visiting the church and Lindbergh’s grave make your way back to the parking area.
On the ocean (SE) side of the paved loop there is a short stone wall. Stand facing this wall and the ocean. From the right end of this wall take about 20 steps due south to a banyon tree, just off the dirt parking area. (You should be just past the second “stonewall island”). The Lindbergh letterbox is buried beneath rocks among the roots of this tree.
Please re-hide well with rocks.

Notes: *Only one small vine was growing on this tree when we planted. **Hand-carved stamp. *** This box is somewhat of an orphan, as we will most likely not be back any time soon.
