The ESCAPED Ct. OAK
November 2008 this box is being re planted for me by kind letterboxers . , stay tunned !
So sorry to report this box is most likely missing in action because of heavy trimming by the park . However , if you are a visitor, this is a lovely large park with many wonderful and interesting things to see .
A wonderful educational Garden is Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden in Kaneohe. Camping is enjoyed here as well as hiking the many trails that wind around each area of gardens. A Tropical American Garden, An India, A Sri Lanka , A Native Hawaiian, A Polynesian and An African plus a Reservoir and Stream Trail
Make sure you pick up a map at the visitors center and enjoy reading and learning many new plants and trees from around the world.
The Ct. Oak is tucked behind a Hawaiian Native cousin, the Koa Tree. Drive to the Kahua Lehua Area [Native Hawaiian Area] . Park in the parking lot and climb a small hill to a spot with several benches . Here , find the lovely Koa Tree with a name plate to help you identify it. Stroll down into a grassy camping area , pass by a large and then a small camp fire circle . Continue on to find a wide trail going down hill under power lines. Pass the power poles and the signs for NO Bikes. After the last pole and about 47 steps , find the Ct. Oak on the right behind a large Koa Tree overhanging the trail. If you come to the No Fishing sign, you have gone too far
I hope you enjoy these lovely botanical gardens and learn some new things.
Aloha
