LOGAN ELM MEMORIAL

Difficulty: Easy
Terrain: Pretty darn flat
Time: Less than 20 minutes after you park.
Distance: Less than 250 yards from car to quest and back again and maybe shorter, depending on where you park.
Please bring your stamp, a stamp pad, pen and an old rag to wipe off the box/your hands.

Clues:
Head south out of Circleville on H.W. 22 for ~ 7 miles (~ 12 miles N. of Chillicothe) and then turn east on 361 and go a couple of miles until you see the monuments on your left. You will find the gate at the east end of the park. Once in the park find the flagpole, then the Ohio Historical Marker, Logans Speech Monument and then look northwest and you will see Logans Elm. Go to Logans Elm and stand on the northern side. Take a heading of ~ 020* and go ~ 46 steps to the iron corner post at the end of the fence. look back up the fence line to the first wooden post closest to you and behind it at the base you will find the LIZARD hiding under bark, sticks and grass in a black letterpouch. NOTE: Finder on 3/7/06 said " My family and I started letterboxing over the weekend. We did find your box!!! The only problem was that it was not by the first fence post. The post that it was supposed to be by is not there any more, but the box is still there, and we did stamp it." ANOTHER NOTE: Pioneer Spirit was gracious enough to relocate this box so it would not be lost in the spring clean up of the park. Their directions to the new placement is: "I moved Lizard about six feet today (as we discussed), about 2 paces at 340*. The box was under some branches that would probably be moved when they do the first park mowing this year. New location is at base of a nasty Honey Locust. It's between the Locust and a Walnut in the weeds under a shingle, piece of concrete and wood from original spot".
Thank you very much Pioneer Spirit!! When you find this letterbox, discretely do the stamping and please reseal the baggies well before putting back in the pouch and then rehiding the pouch as you found it. Check out the rest of the monuments before leaving if you have not already. Very interesting Memorial!!
