This box is the third in our "Favorite Picnic Places" series. Besse Park a wonderful little place along the water front. Wareham holds it's annual Swan festival here as well as all sorts of other events during the summer. You will almost always find a fisherman or two throwing a line in from the pier.

We had been picnicing here before we even knew the park's name. Later, when we were trying to find Besse Park for a special event, we had no idea where it was in Wareham. We'll leave it to you to find it, though if you really get stuck, I've included some hidden clues at the bottom of this page. Select the text below the visable text to see them.

Remember to bring your picnic along!

Once you've found Besse Park, you'll see a small parking area. Your search begins there. Look for the Wareham Time Capsule. Take a compass reading of 220 degrees and walk 73 steps in that direction. Take care in crossing the street. Look for a flight of wooden steps leading up to a parking lot. Look across the parking lot to see a multi-trunked tree on the other side. You'll find the Besse Park letterbox hidden where all the trunks branch out.

This area can be busy, especially during the warm months, so keep a watch when searching for this box and be sure to rehide carefully.

You can find Besse Park on Main Street, just beyond where it joins to Elm Street, right across from the emergency entrance to Toby Hospital.
