It was Memorial Day weekend so it was time for a road trip. We headed for the beach in search of some elusive boxes but had to make a quick stop to stretch our legs. From Highway 26, turn on to 6 towards the beach.
Gales Creek Campground is located just off the Wilson River Highway, 20 miles west of Forest Grove, Oregon. It is a rustic site, located adjacent to Gales Creek, within a young forest of Douglas-fir, alder, and maple trees.
The campground has 23 campsites (4 walk-in sites, 19 drive-in sites), vault toilets, drinking water from a hand pump, a picnic area, a trailhead for hiking trail access, and a trash & recycling program.
Each site offers a picnic table and a fire grate. The campground is open from May through October.
Clues:
We drove into the picnic area a stopped at the bathroom. From the bathroom there are 3 picnic tables within close proximity. One of them has a BIG stump right next to it. I left Side Car Racer in the biggest stump. When I stood looking at the correct side of the stump, the picnic table was to my right with another behind me. The box is at your feet, a little the left of center. (I'm giving specifics here because I don't want people tearing up this beautiful old stump)
