*****Reported as missing. Such as shame, as it was never found :-( ****

From Annecy (http://www.annecytourisme.com/gb/accueil/accueil.htm) take the boat (Omnibus – 3 per day – telephone: 04.50.51.08.40 – leaves from the lake) or the bus (Crolard Voyages – 6-8 per day – telephone: 04.50.45.08.12 – leaves from the train station) to Talloires. The boat drops you off at the dock which is our starting point; if you take the bus, it leaves you at the side of the road and you must make your way down to the water. Follow the signs for “port” and “L’Auberge du Père Bise.”

On the dock is a small blue-green wood hut. Starting there, walk to your left, away from the hut and along the water. There’s a path that follows along the water while to the right are pricey hotels and restaurants. Stick to the path. It curves around to the left and you’ll see large mansions (actually summer homes) on the right. You’ll come to a peach-coloured house with several large balconies and a stone “picket” fence with a sculpture of three dolphins in the yard. From the path, it’s hard to see the dolphins through the vegetation on the fence, but try to position yourself directly in front of the statue. If you turn around and look out into the lake, you’re directly across from a small kiosk-like building with a pointed red roof. Face the wall and look at the base about 8 feet to your left—there are a lot of stones missing. The letterbox is in the bottom right corner, pushed in far. Please push it back as far out of sign as you can. Although practically deserted when we planted the box in May, this is a very popular tourist destination and can get busy, so please be discreet.
