2/21/09 - Letterbox missing.

Begin at the Red Rock Wilderness Overlook Regional Park on Edwards Ferry Road in Leesburg, VA.

Pick up a park map at the information sign in the parking lot.

Find the footbridge that was built by Scott Kemp for his Eagle Scout project.

Once at the bridge follow the white blaze trail (White Pine Loop Trail) north across the bridge over the little creek.

Turn left at the blue blaze trail (Holly Trail) and follow it to another intersection with the white blaze trail (White Pine Loop Trail).

Turn right and follow the white blaze trail as it loops around along the Potomac River.

As you are walking with the Potomac River on your left, look to the right and find (without leaving the trail) the large tree with the split trunk that has another fallen tree lying in the split.

Continue on the trail until you are looking right at the very end of the fallen tree. (Hint: you will be standing beside a tree on the right of the trail with a white blaze mark on it.)

From this point count 42 foot falls and look for a tree on the left side of the trail with a white blaze mark on it.
This tree also has a split trunk but at the base of the tree on the side facing away from the trail there is a hollow area.

The letterbox is hidden in the hollow and covered with a large fallen branch. Please beware as you reach into the hollow there may be poison ivy or other hazardous creatures inhabiting the same spot.

Please email: Brownies_2491@yahoo.com if you locate this box. Have fun and be safe!
