The Star Point letterbox was placed to mark the last trip our family took to the family reunion in Byrdstown before the birth of my son, Jack. Each year my wife and I travel from Indiana to stay at Star Point with several other family members, have a little fun in the sun, and to reunite with loved ones.

To find the Star Point letterbox take 111 to Byrdstown.
At the gas station you will cross Cordell Hull Memorial Drive (W325).
Turn onto Cordell Hull Memorial Drive and Head for Star Point Resort. On this road you will pass the following places, all of which are on the right side of the road as you travel toward the lake:
- The Cordell Hull Birthplace
- Bloomington Christian Church
- The Amonett Family Cemetery
- Grace Chapel

After you've travelled roughly 5.5 miles from 111 you'll arrive at Star Point resort. Follow the road until it ends at Dale Hollow Lake and find a parking spot on the left.

On one side of the road is a campground and marina. On the other side of the road is an A-frame cottage. Walk to the A-frame and face it. To your left you will see a one-lane road heading toward a small cottage called "Willows." Take this lane as far toward the lake as it will go. At about 290 degrees is a path down to the shore. Take it down to the shore and take a moment to look at the lake and maybe skip a few rocks (we always do).

Face the lake and look to your right. You should see a tree with no leaves or branches on the first 10 feet of its trunk on a hill. Go to this tree. Be careful as you climb up to it. Once at this tree, take another 9 paces into the woods and locate a fallen tree. Halfway up along the right side of the fallen tree (under some sticks) is the Star Point letterbox.

Please rehide well when you're done.

A bit of climbing is needed to reach the box.
Roughly .5 miles walk.
