April 2011 - Rubaduc and Gizz are still taking care of this baby. One of these days I'm going to convince them to just own it so I don't drive the poor duc to distraction with my slow clue updating :-) Many more thanks, dear ones.

December 2009 - Many thanks to Mom and Rubaduc and Gizz for taking care of this box. Everything is right back where it's supposed to be. You all are great!

October 2009 - Mom and two kids are revamping the box so it's out of commision for a while.

A tag along letterbox to MDC Reservoir Trail Letterbox in lovely West Hartford, Connecticut

Difficulty - easy
Time – 10 minutes past the reservoir trail box
Directions to starting place –
After finding the MDC Reservoir Trail Letterbox, continue along the paved path in the same direction.

Details you should know –
The reservoir is lovely, but also quite busy. When finding any boxes here, please be as discreet as possible. It’s beautiful all year, but the autumn is breathtaking.
I found this image someplace, thought it was interesting and carved it. I had no idea what it was, though I assumed it was some kind of military medal or award. Probably two weeks later, a dear friend invited me for dinner and started telling me about the fact that she is a descendant of French Huguenots. She brought me to her computer and showed me a web site about the history and there on the screen was the French Huguenot Cross. So this box is for her. I’m thankful for her friendship because she cares for me in many ways. She makes dinner for me and inspires me to cook creatively, she prays for me, she makes me think, she is honest, very smart, and when she asks, “How are you?” she not only listens, but cares about the answer. I could go on, but I won’t.

Details you don't need to know, but I found perfectly fascinating -
The rounded points represent the eight beatitudes of Matthew, the Maltese Cross formed by a four petalled Lily of France is also a symbol of the four gospels. Four fleur de lis with three petals each stand for the 12 apostles and the pendant dove signifies the Holy Ghost. In times of persecution a pearl, signifying a teardrop, replaced the dove.
In case you are curious and don’t know the beatitudes reference in the Book of Matthew, here they are.
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Clues:Make sure you look at the map in the parking lot before you head out. This will help you and may even be neccesary. Find the dyke pond on the map.
After getting the MDC box, proceed in the same direction on the paved path. After a few minutes of walking along the lake the road climbs and dips. A paved road will enter on your right and then a dirt road will go left. Follow the left road until you see water on the left and pavement begins. At this point turn left into the woods about 30 steps and just past a large downed tree you'll see a small downed two sister. Look on the ground at the V covered with very obvious bark.
The night I placed this box three deer came strolling by me on their way to the lake for a drink. I watched them for about 15 minutes and they didn't seem to mind the 40 or so people who stopped to watch them with me. Please re hide carefully, as this spot is QUITE visible from the trail. Thanks.
