Island LbNA #16096

This letterbox is located on an island in Lake Hopewell in Collis P. Huntington State Park on the Bethel/Redding border. From route 58 take Sunset Hill Rd. to Dodgingtown Rd. Follow Dodgingtown Rd. to a low dam and parking area. At the dam, paddle south. As you pass under a bridge, you will enter the east lagoon. On your right will be another bridge. Pass under this bridge and through a narrow, shaded channel into Hopewell Lake. Continue SW to a large island. At the SE corner of the island is a small opening in the mountain laurel where you can put to shore. From here, proceed 310 degrees to a small clearing at the top of the island. The letterbox is located in a niche at the base of a rock outcrop approximately 100' from the center of the clearing at a bearing of 280 degrees. After leaving a message and stamping, please return the box to it's niche.
